circling
Words are important; how we use them, when we say them and which ones we wear.
Much like words, the circular cycles of fashion shift in purpose and function as they move through time. Maybe you’ve noticed all the 90’s throw-back Looney Tunes merchandise to Nirvana onsies on newborns. Or maybe you’ve seen the expanding ‘circular’ green movement in fashion houses (or, in the very least, the posturing marketing machine of it). Kids are reselling on Depop - SIDEBAR: Smart move, Etsy. - With all these circular-like movements, it’s no surprise that everything is indeed trending all the time. #trendalert
And circling back to these ever communicative words - even the ones we demean to fashion vocabulary - have a circulatory momentum. The word Victoria has for so long been used to sell overtly male-gaze sexual standards to generations of women; and to see this word, or the root of it, taken back - dare I say - to its origin story is universal circuitry working as it should.
I’ve been hovering around this industry for some time and seeing new brands hop this dizzying (and exhausting) Wonder-Wheel ride is fun. Excited to see what you’ll do next, Batsheva.
